Women's Robes & Kimonos

FAQ

What are the different types of silk robes?
Silk robes come in various styles, each offering unique features and benefits. Here are the main types you can find in MANITO:
• Kimono Robes: Wide sleeves and wrap-around design for a relaxed fit—perfect for lounging or as a stylish cover-up, like the Whisper Women's Short Kimono.
• Bath Robes: Featuring a belted waist for an adjustable fit, they are light, breathable, and exceptionally smooth—ideal for morning routines, skincare rituals, or unwinding at home in refined comfort.
• Long Robes: Typically extending to the ankles, ideal for cooler evenings or as a statement piece for special occasions.
• Short Robes: Knee-length or shorter, providing a more playful and flirty look; great for warmer weather or for a quick, stylish outfit.
What is the difference between a kimono and a robe?
A kimono is a traditional Japanese garment characterized by its T-shaped, straight-lined silhouette, wide sleeves, and wrap-around style, often adorned with intricate patterns. It is typically worn for formal occasions and ceremonies.
In contrast, a robe is a more general term that refers to a loose-fitting outer garment, which varies widely in style, material, and purpose. Robes are often used for comfort at home, such as bathrobes or loungewear, and can be made from various fabrics like cotton, fleece, or silk.
What kind of silk are kimonos made of?
Kimonos are traditionally made from different types of silk, most commonly mulberry silk for its softness and durability. Variants like habotai silk and tsumugi silk are also used depending on style and occasion.
MANITO kimono-inspired robes are crafted from premium mulberry silk, designed to bring both comfort and elegance to everyday wear and special moments.

How to care for a silk robe?
To care for a silk robe, wash it gently by hand or on a delicate machine cycle in cool water with a pH-neutral silk detergent, and avoid bleach or fabric softeners. Place the robe in a mesh bag if machine washing, and never wring or twist. After washing, gently shake to release wrinkles and hang or lay flat to dry away from direct sunlight—never tumble dry. For stains, use cold water or mild solutions, and for wrinkles, use low-heat ironing from the reverse side with a press cloth or opt for gentle steaming.
